The Artistic Vision of Nico Nardomarino
From Personal Resilience to Collective Art: A Journey into the Heart of Emotional Intelligence at the "Falcone e Borsellino-Carelli" Institute.
In the 1970s, two young boys stood side-by-side in a local choir in Conversano, their voices blending in harmony. It was a friendship rooted in their hometown, yet their paths were destined to diverge. At just 19 years old, Angelo Iudice left for London, embarking on a journey that would span decades and continents. Today, he and Nico Nardomarino have reconnected, not to sing, but to harmonize their professional talents for a greater cause: the emotional wellbeing of their community.
"Reconnecting with Angelo Iudice has been a mutually rewarding experience. From a choir back in the 70s, here we are delivering projects to benefit communities, from London all the way to rural Conversano." — Nico Nardomarino, Photographer
A Shared Journey: From London to Puglia
Nardomarino’s evocative photography first bridged the gap between his homeland and the international stage when his work was showcased across the London Underground. That collaboration, part of a high-profile Youmanity campaign, sought to combat social isolation by reconnecting urban commuters with the restorative power of nature.

Today, that same artistic vision has returned to Conversano for the project "The Invisible Fuel" at the "Falcone e Borsellino-Carelli" Institute.
Capturing the "Invisible"
While the project utilized digital animation to explore empathy, it is Nardomarino’s live photographic work that provides the most human dimension. Following five intensive workshops where students explored compassion through personal essays and dialogue, Nico stepped in to document the results.
He captured the portraits of 15 students who courageously volunteered to be the faces of this journey. These aren't mere snapshots; they are soul-searching studies of a generation navigating a world of digital filters. By stripping away the "noise," Nardomarino’s portraits reveal the raw, authentic fuel that drives these young people: their burgeoning sense of self and empathy for others.
The Carelli Exhibition
These portraits will soon be showcased in a dedicated exhibition at the Carelli Institute and online. Each image will be paired with a personal quote, where the subjects define what "Compassion" means to them. For Nardomarino and Iudice, this project represents a full circle—using their craft to give back to the school where their own journeys began.
"It has been such a privilege to reconnect with Maestro Nico Nardomarino. I left this town at nineteen to build a life in London, and it is quite unbelievable how fifty years have flown by. Yet, here we are, working together to foster a more inclusive world." — Angelo Iudice, Founder of Youmanity
In short, "The Invisible Fuel" has successfully transformed abstract emotions into a tangible legacy. By blending Angelo Iudice's storytelling with digital art and Nico Nardomarino’s raw photography, the project has provided these students with a mirror to reflect their own potential for compassion and a compass to navigate their future with empathy.
