Lucilla Moschetti: An Artist Whose Work Never Goes Unnoticed
The Creative Journey of a Rising Star in Illustration
There is an art that never goes unnoticed, capable of transforming a simple pen stroke into a world of emotion. This is the art of Lucilla Moschetti, a talented young artist from Puglia and the creative force behind the illustrations for the digital fairy tale "The Adventures of Giovanni".
From Puglia to IED: A Journey in Line and Form
Currently finishing her final year of high school, Lucilla is preparing to move to Milan to attend IED (Istituto Europeo di Design), where she will specialise in Illustration and Animation. Much of her skill is self-taught, developed through constant practice and a deep personal sensitivity to the visual world. One of her most distinctive tools is the simple Bic pen, which she uses to create intricate studies of form, volume, and texture on paper.
Editorial Success: “Abat-jour"
Before her current projects, Lucilla proved her talent in the professional editorial world by creating the cover illustration for the book "Abat-jour" by Lucio Andreotti. In this project, she was given full expressive freedom to visually represent a collection of 365 morning emails written by the author to his team. This experience was a significant milestone, allowing her to bridge the gap between pure art and editorial design, translating daily reflections on goals and milestones into a powerful visual image.
Giovanni: A Caterpillar’s Great Challenge
Building on that success, Lucilla is now collaborating with Angelo Iudice, founder of Youmanity, to bring the characters of the digital story "The Adventures of Giovanni" to life, a tale featured in the work Fichi, Formaggio e Farfalle.
Using the symbolic language of animals, the story addresses profound themes such as social disparity. The protagonist, a small caterpillar named Giovanni, must navigate a world that is often hostile, pushing forward with determination and hope until his final transformation.
Illustration as a Bridge
For this project, Lucilla—who signs her work with the artist name "Cilla"—has embraced digital illustration using Procreate. This medium allows her to blend her detailed research into animal anatomy with a structured and engaging narrative.
"My goal is to develop a personal style capable of telling stories and ideas through images," Lucilla explains. Looking at her portfolio, it is clear that her creative journey is just beginning.
