Slices of Life
We report on a most unusual 'cookbook' in which each delicious recipe is accompanied by a portrait and a history snapshot of the person whose recipe it is. Entitled Slices of Life, the book is more that just a cookery book, it is an extraordinary journey into the lives of some wonderful strangers.
Each recipe, its owner very favourite concoction, provides the basis of some kind of a blind date - a culinary ‘encounter’ with someone you will never actually meet.
The book’s objective is achieved when – by cooking and eating the suggested dish – the reader ingests the Other in a ‘transubstantiation’ - an intellectual experience culminating into a quintessential feast.
Slices of Life contains 52 recipes dished out by people from a very different backgrounds’ - from a punk to a war veteran - thus representing London's rich tapestry of cultural diversity.
Ultimately, the pages of Slices of Life, take you through London’s back streets, inviting you to take wrong turnings - that's how you will discover places never seen before.
