Happy Eid
27 June 2017
Eid or Eid al-Fitr marks the end of Ramadan, which is a month of fasting that started on May 27 and finished on Saturday June 24 - this being the hardest time for fasting Muslims. During this time believers cannot eat or drink between sunrise and sunset. Each year Ramadam takes place in a different month.
Eid kicks tarts the month of Shawwal, which begins with a feast to end the period of fasting.
During Eid, Muslims will purchase new clothes for this special occasion, and take part in many wonderful festivals and celebrations.
Eid means “celebration” and Mubarak means “blessed”, often Eid Mubarak is used as a greeting over this period.
