Farewell to Tina Nocco
A Life of Generosity and Social Commitment in London
It is with deep sadness that the Italian community in London learns of the passing of Tina Nocco, one of Youmanity's Honorary Members. Tina left an indelible mark on all those who had the pleasure of knowing her.
A Tribute from the Institutions
"I learn with great sadness of the passing of Tina Nocco. During my mandate in London, I had the opportunity to appreciate not only her tireless dedication to the Italian community and her support for charities, such as Il Circolo and Youmanity, but above all, her extraordinary human warmth. Dynamic and deeply attached to her Apulian roots, Tina had the ability to welcome and connect loved ones—a rare gift. Her memory will remain alive in all of us who were fortunate enough to cross her path."
H.E. Massimiliano Mazzanti, Ambassador of Italy to Peru and former Consul General in London
A woman of direct and affectionate character, Tina did not live her time in London as a mere resident, but as a tireless driver of cultural and charitable initiatives. A long-standing member of Il Circolo, she distinguished herself through her constant commitment to fundraising activities. Her apartment in Belgravia was often a meeting place where her hospitality translated into concrete projects to support those in need.
Remembering Il Circolo
Elisa Provini, former President of Il Circolo, remembers Tina with these words:
"As soon as she arrived in London, Tina immediately found ways to make herself useful, joining the charity's founding members and offering her hospitality to support countless scholarships and charitable initiatives. Always smiling and helpful, she had the gift of making everyone feel at ease with her common sense and patience. The memories we carry are vivid and inspiring. May the earth rest lightly upon you, dear friend of distant but unforgettable days."
Commitment to Inclusion: Accademia Apulia and Youmanity
Tina Nocco’s contribution touched on themes of profound social relevance. Between 2010 and 2015, she served as an Honorary Member of Accademia Apulia (now Youmanity), generously providing her professional network to promote social inclusion, the organization's core mission.
One of the most significant moments of this collaboration was the organisation of the photography exhibition Home: My Place in the World in 2012. It was a project Tina felt was intimately hers, reflecting her philosophy of a cosmopolitan life deeply rooted in human values.
Angelo Iudice, founder of Youmanity, remembers her this way:
"Tina particularly loved that project because, as she always said, 'Home' is that special place we build within ourselves and can carry anywhere in the world. She was an extraordinary person, capable of combining pragmatism with great sensitivity."
An Irreplaceable Loss
Tina Nocco leaves behind an irreplaceable void. Those who knew her remember her disarming sincerity and her natural ability to be loved by everyone, without distinction. Her legacy will continue to live on through the causes she championed and in the memory of that "inner home" she so generously shared with the Italian community in London.
