Mind the Gap
Because no one should be left behind in the digital age
Around the world, billions of people continue to live outside the digital sphere — a separation that denies them access to education, healthcare, employment, and even the ability to stay connected with family. Today, 2.6 billion people remain offline, roughly a third of the world’s population. Women and girls are hit hardest: nearly 190 million fewer women than men use the internet.
Mind the Gap is Youmanity’s new initiative drawing attention to this growing divide. Through a collection of narratives and images, the campaign examines what it means to be disconnected in a society that now depends so heavily on being online.
The opening chapter highlights the real impact of digital exclusion — from students unable to follow lessons, to older adults cut off from essential services, to entire communities shut out of economic opportunity.
Its message is simple: when people are digitally included, they are socially included. Closing the digital divide is not just a technological goal — it’s a human one.
