Entitled Migration, Stories of a Journey, the 2013 photography edition reported on migrants’ stories worldwide.
The overall winner was Paolo Patrizi - Rome
For nearly twenty years women from Benin City, Nigeria, have been going to Italy to work in the sex trade. Every year they recruit younger girls from Nigeria to follow them.
Often they are deceived, threatened, or forced to work as sex slaves. Since Migration, Stories of a Journey, this work by Patrizi has been on display at the National Portrait Gallery.
