Friend-Ship
Photography Award winners
Entitled 'Friend-Ship', our 2019 Award aimed to recover the place and value of friendship.
Friends are vital to our lives and for our mental health. According to the Institute of National Statistics, 2018 saw the most dramatic rise in UK suicides ever with 6507 people taking their own lives. Isolation is a main reason for suicide.
Friendship, togetherness, and connection, then, are as vital as ever.
Photographers worldwide, professional or amateur, were invited to reach out to family and friends, to take a celebratory portrait or an image encapsulating the meaning of friendship.
We received over four thousand photographic entries from 58 different countries. This is gallery contains a selection of 30 finalists.
A selection of images will be showcased at the Houses of Parliament in the coming spring.
